Nandalal Ghosh BT College was established in the year 1968 by some of the dedicated people of North 24 Parganas, to help the untrained teachers of the nearby schools of Naihati, Kankinara and other nearby schools and the aspirant students of that Madral, Naihati, North 24 Parganas. For this welfare cause of the society Late Amar Ghosh donated their ancestral two stored building having 16 rooms and Mandira of Thakur Lakshmi Janardhan and some open land for the college and on his request the college was named by the name of his father Late Nandalal Ghosh as "Nandalal Ghosh B.T. College".

All the land donated by Late Amar Ghosh was in the name of Thakur Lakshmi Janardhan the worshipped deity of the community people and the college. Though the college going on in the college was taken up by the Govt. Of West Bengal the traditional puja of the deity is still going on in the college in the same building as a matter mentioned in the deed. It also served for the integration of community people with the inmates of the college for their deep faith and believes on the deity. At initial stage of the college was running in Madral, Naihati and the building was used for the Hostel purpose. In the year 2002 the college was shifted from Madral to its present address Panpur, Narayanpur, North 24 Parganas. With the completion of all the formalities of the college started functioning in the year 1968 under the affiliation of University of Calcutta.

Since the college is a Aided college with the order of the Govt. Of West Bengal the affiliation of the college shifted from Calcutta University to West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat in the year 2008 and from WBSU to West Bengal University of Teachers Training, Education Planning and Administration (WBUTTEPA), Kolkata in the year 2016. And now the college is continuing under the affiliation of the WBUTTEPA and recognized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). Regarding administration of the college, it was under the policy of Administrator till the constitution of the first Governing Body in 2014. Now the college has under its full fledged management the Governing Body. Now the college has three buildings having sufficient rooms, laboratories, Library, play ground and open lands. Initially the college offered training course for one year B.Ed. for 100 students, but now with the new regulation of NCTE 2014 the college is offering two years B.Ed. training programme for one basic unit of 50 students (1 Unit) per year. So, the total strength of the college per year 100 students. As per requirement of the NCTE norms the college fulfilled the teaching strength of 7+1. There are seven teachers and one Principal in their permanent post. Besides this for the benefit of the students the college also have additional teachers in Fine Arts and other visiting Professors Regarding its yearly curricular and co-curricular activities the college regularly organized different activities like Lecture series, seminar, workshops, orientation programmes, community outreach programmes, field visit , study tours , Observation of National days and festivals, Orientation programme in Yoga and creative Arts etc. It bides and runs as per the guidelines of its affiliating University WBUTTEPA, UGC, Govt. of west Bengal, Govt. of India. In addition to this the college has the mission to inculcate the professional skills among its would be teachers.
